Today is Monday, March 4, 2013. There are 144 days left until the 2013 Michigan Susan G. Komen 3-Day. (But who’s counting?)
I have to raise a minimum of $2,300 just to take part in the walk. I’ve set a fundraising goal of $5,000, but the 3-Day staff won’t duct tape me to a flagpole and paint me pink if I fall short of that goal. It’s the $2,300 that’s the deal-breaker.
I’ve raised an average of $5185 each of the last five years and I’m hoping, ultimately, to at least equal that this year.
Right now, my fundraising total for 2013 stands at $100. I’ve got $2,200 to go to make my minimum and I’ve got $4,900 to go to hit $5,000. Will you help me toward my goal by sponsoring me? You can donate at http://www.the3day.org/goto/jayfurr — and you can even split your donation into four installments.
Your donations will go to pay for clinical trials and research into the causes of and treatments of breast cancer. They’ll go to pay for mammograms and treatment and education. Surprisingly little, if you check the 3-Day/Komen fundraising report card (or Komen’s own form 990) goes toward fundraising and administrative overhead. Komen annually ranks extremely highly in the percentage of funds that go toward program expenses — the aforementioned research, treatment, detection, and education.
Please help. It’s not the walking that’s important — it’s the funding. And I can’t walk a foot on the 3-Day without support from donors like you!
Thank you so much.
